The Pathfinder Initiative is led by researchers at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine in collaboration with global partners, and funded by the Wellcome Trust (previously with support from the Oak Foundation in the first phase). Core partners of the first phase of research were C40 Cities, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), CDP, Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research and the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN). Scientific oversight for the Pathfinder Initiative was provided by The Lancet Pathfinder Commission.
The Pathfinder Initiative is now expanding its network of partners to scale up research and action on climate and health. Partners of the second phase of work include organisations from the first phase (C40 Cities, the OECD, CDP and SDSN), and the African Institute for Development Policy (AFIDEP), the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC), the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the Hot or Cool Institute.
