Why we need better evidence for action on climate and health

Effective and rapid action is needed to achieve global climate goals. Evidence shows that the potential health benefits of well-designed climate actions are significant and could prevent many millions of premature deaths annually. The size of these health benefits vary depending on sector, level of ambition, and mode of implementation, as well as local, national or regional context.

As part of the Pathfinder Initiative, researchers carried out an umbrella review (a review of systematic literature reviews) to synthesise and quantify empirical and modelled evidence on climate mitigation actions to assess their impacts on climate and health. Our evidence bank allows you to explore and download the data from the review by sector, pathway and country.
