Despite the growing scientific evidence, political attention to climate change is wavering. Economic pressures, geopolitical instability, and competing priorities have pushed climate action further down the agenda, even as the scientific consensus becomes more urgent. At the same time, mis- and disinformation continue to erode public trust in climate science, delaying essential societal and political responses.

This event, hosted on the sidelines of the World Health Assembly (WHA) by the Pan-European Commission on Climate and Health (PECCH) and the Pathfinder Initiative, will present evidence and recommendations to advance the climate and health agenda in the WHO European Region and globally.

This session will present the PECCH‘s Call to Action, highlighting practical, scalable solutions for climate and health. Leading experts will share the latest evidence on climate and health, including insights and case studies from the Pathfinder Initiative and will explore what researchers, decision makers, innovators, and other key actors can do to accelerate implementation.

Speakers include:

  • Dr Jeni Miller, Executive Director, Global Climate and Health Alliance
  • H.E. Katrín Jakobsdóttir, Chair, Pan-European Commission on Climate and Health
  • Mr Robb Butler, Special Representative for Climate and Health, WHO Regional Office for Europe
  • Professor Andy Haines, Chief Scientific Advisor, PECCH; London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM)
  • Dr Heidi Larson, Professor of Anthropology, Risk and Decision Science, LSHTM
  • Dr Lorna Benton, Research Fellow in Planetary Health, Pathfinder Initiative, LSHTM
  • Dr Iris Blom, Scientific writer, PECCH; Researcher, Pathfinder Initiative, LSHTM

The event is free and open to all.
