The agriculture, forestry and other land use (AFOLU) sector contributes to a significant proportion of global greenhouse gas emissions. Actions to promote productive and sustainable agriculture include changes in farming practices, and technical solutions to improve existing approaches. These actions can substantially reduce GHG emissions, boost crop yields and reduce health hazards from agriculture through reducing emission of hazardous compounds in the atmosphere, soils, and rivers.

Measured health impacts of these actions in the Pathfinder review were relatively small, suggesting the need to address evidence gaps. Shifts in agricultural practices also had smaller climate impacts compared to dietary interventions.
